Western Cape Acting Head of Department, Mr. Hilton Arendse leads engagements by unpacking their province’s crime fighting strategies. This strategy is primarily informed by the Provincial Safety Plan, all Municipalities align their safety models and strategies to the approved provincial plan.
The provincial Safety plan prioritizes among other Safety initiatives such as;
* Working to improve Police effectiveness
* Drafting and adoption of an impactful violence prevention programmes.
* Creating safe and secure communities and Municipalities.
* The introduction of smart surveillance through using drones and CCTV cameras that are also linked to road networks throughout the province.
* The Western Cape Department is also prioritising the inclusion of youth participants as social media ambassadors by communicating the provincial government’s crime prevention strategies and operations.
