Benchmarking Engagement continued:
Presentations on the innovative crime prevention strategies and recruitment of force multipliers to augment resources and law enforcement human capital were made by the department of Police Oversight and Community Safety.
Highlights include the Law Enforcement Advancement Program [ LEAP] a data-led law enforcement and Evidence-based Hotspot Policing model, where law enforcement agencies, inclusive of Municipal law enforcement, improve their capacity to prevent, detect and respond to crime. Within this model, law enforcement responds to the needs of local communities. This has yielded positive results during targeted operations. It has lead to increased arrests, increased number of drugs seized and firearms recovered by law enforcement agencies.
This Policing model emphasizes the importance of a collaborative approach to crime prevention wherein all spheres of government work towards the eradication of crime.
In addition, a presentation on the Court Watching Brief App was very insightful. This App increases productivity, improves data analysis and integrity of the work being done.
