The department of Community Safety and Liaison in partnership with National Civilian Secretariat for Police Service is currently conducting KZN consultative meeting on the review of the establishment of Community Safety forums (CSF) policy in Mayville Public Conference Centre on 31st of July 2025.
This comes after a study which was conducted with a sole purpose of analyzing the extent to which the policy is being implemented and to identify gaps affecting the implementation of the policy. Five provinces (Gauteng, KZN, Limpopo, North West and the Eastern Cape) were covered on the study.
Some of the challenges which were identified when implementing the policy ranges from the lack of resources, inconsistencies in political leadership, lack of commitment from key stakeholders, lack of recognition and knowledge of CSF’s by other departments and communities as well as weak accountability and reporting structures.
