The Department of Community Safety and Liaison through uMgungundlovu District office successfully held the much anticipated semi finals on the 20th of February 2025 at Woodlands Secondary school where semi finals comprised of two categories (debating and poetry) as part of the school safety program.
It is a well known fact that violence remains a problem in South Africa particularly, in our province. As a result, the concept was developed to guide the approach of implementing this school safety project in all seven local municipalities with uMgungundlovu District Municipality and this program is led by learner’s.
In eradicating all forms of crime and social ills in schools and to promote safety and responsible citizentry, this school safety program amongst others, seeks to promote school safety, reduce the number of youth involved in crime, empower youth to lead crime prevention initiatives at school level and lastly, to promote intra and intergovernmental relations in the fight against crime crime.
