The KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli earlier on Thursday, 12 September 2024 visited the Khambule family, following reports that seven members were brutally murdered including a five-year-old on the night of Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
The Premier was accompanied by Harry Gwala District Mayor, Cllr Zamo Nxumalo, Buhlebezwe Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Jabulile Msiya, the Head of the Department of Community Safety and Liaison, Ms Glen Xaba-Makhetha, South African Police Service, Provincial Commissioner, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, and the district’s Department of Social Development.
Premier Ntuli, assured the family and community members, that he has confidence that the police led by General Mkhwanazi will work around the clock in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book. The Premier further instructed both the District and Local Municipalities, including his office to work closely with the family as they prepare to lay to rest their loved ones, and urged all community members to play their part in creating peace and stability in their areas through working with the police. This case has since been handed over to the Provincial Task Team.
