PURPOSE
The Department of Community Safety and Liaison has a Special Projects AND Inter-sectoral Collaboration Directorate which aims to promote corporate governance and provide strategic project support.
FUNCTIONS
The functions of this directorate include:

Facilitating the establishment of the KwaZulu-Natal JCPS cluster to further strengthen intergovernmental cooperation within the criminal justice system at a provincial level.

In line with the constitutional mandate to promote good relations between communities and police, implementing the Volunteer Crime Prevention Project (VSCPP), balance law enforcement with community engagement by facilitating localized safety priorities and community activism against crime; and
-
Overseeing the planning, design and implementation of plans to ensure that there are adequate and proper safety and security measures for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
